Mcwhopper
On World Peace Day 2015, Burger King made a bold move to spotlight unity by publicly inviting McDonald’s to collaborate on a one-day-only burger, the “McWhopper.” The proposal, shared through newspapers and social media, asked the rival chain to “set aside our differences” in support of Peace One Day, a nonprofit promoting global peace.
McDonald’s declined, but the internet embraced the idea. Fans worldwide began creating and posting their own DIY McWhoppers, turning the concept into a viral symbol of collaboration. The campaign inspired other brands, including Denny’s, Wayback Burgers, Krystal, and Giraffas, to join the cause. Together, they created the “Peace Day Burger,” combining each restaurant’s signature ingredients for a one-day pop-up event.
Though the McWhopper never officially happened, Burger King’s open invitation sparked a global conversation about unity — proving a simple idea can make a powerful cultural impact.
